Are you looking to buy a Nespresso pod machine but don’t know where to start? There are so many models to choose from and basically, it all comes down to your budget.

We have three different machines at home. This probably sounds slightly ridiculous, but we just couldn’t help ourselves! We started with a more basic model, which worked perfectly well but then we just couldn’t resist the Porsche version of pod machines. Let me tell you, it really is a thing of beauty.

One of the most important things to look for when choosing a machine is pump pressure, which is measured in bars. This will determine how much flavour is extracted from your coffee capsule and ensure you get a good crema on your espresso. As a guide, we’d recommend choosing a machine that has at least 15 bars of pump pressure. Power is also key and as a general rule, we’d choose a machine with a wattage of 1300 and above.

1. Sage Creatista™ – this is the Porsche model that we talked about earlier. It’s powerful, beautiful and you can make your own latte art at home. It comes with a higher price tag but in our opinion, it’s definitely worth it. Online price: £300 – £399
2. Magimix CitiZ & Milk – this is a great machine and has a stylish, retro design. It also has an integrated Aeroccino (milk frother), which is very handy. Online Price: £170 – £230
3. Dualit 3 in 1 – you can use Nespresso capsules, ESE coffee pods and ground coffee in this machine. Perfect for families you like to buy both coffee beans and coffee pods. Online Price: £150 – £199
4. Magimix Essenza Mini – in our opinion, this is the best budget machine on the market. It’s sleek, small and it also has a nice price tag to match. Online Price: £75 (This machine doesn’t have an integrated milk frother so you would need to buy an Aeroccino on top if you’d like warm frothy milk in your coffee.)

If you like to have your coffee with milk, we’d highly recommend choosing a machine with an integrated milk frother. It just makes life so much easier and your coffee tastes amazing too. Our favourite machine is the Sage Creatista™ but this is expensive. The Magimix CitiZ & Milk is a great buy, especially if you can get a good deal online.
